The budget for building a greenhouse varies depending on factors such as structural type, covering materials, and supporting systems. Here are the budget situations for several common types of greenhouses:
- Simple plastic arch shed: The framework is made of bamboo, wood, or galvanized steel pipes, covered with a single layer of PE film. The cost is generally 4-12 USD per square meter. This type of greenhouse has a simple structure, is suitable for short-term seasonal planting, and has weak resistance to wind and snow.
- Solar greenhouse: A standard solar greenhouse is generally about 100 meters long from east to west, with an internal front-to-back span of 10 meters. The cost for one mu (a Chinese unit of area, approximately 666.67 square meters) including labor and materials is 5700 -7100 USD. Its walls are usually made of soil, the front roof mostly adopts an all-steel frame structure, covered with anti-dripping, anti-aging special PO film for greenhouses and quilts, plus a rolling machine, etc.
- Multi-span film greenhouse: The framework is a hot-dip galvanized steel frame, covered with double-layer inflatable film (PO film or EVA film), with a cost of 21- 43USD per square meter. If it is a multi-span modern film greenhouse equipped with internal and external sunshade systems, insulation systems, automatic irrigation and fertilization systems, etc., the cost for one mu is about a little over 14,285 USD.

- Polycarbonate sheet greenhouse: Covered with 8-10mm polycarbonate sheets, the cost is generally 43-86 USD per square meter, which has the advantages of light weight, impact resistance, and high light transmittance.
In addition to the construction cost of the greenhouse itself, the budget may also include design fees, accounting for about 3%-5% of the total cost, as well as transportation fees and installation fees. In remote areas, these fees may increase the total cost by 10%-20%.
